In celebration of International Women’s Week, we’re highlighting the work of our entrepreneurial colleagues, both in Puerto Rico and around the world. Meet our colleague Taina M.

At Monsanto, safeguarding the health and safety of all our employees, collaborators and visitors is one of the most important pillars of our daily work. Our colleague Taina is an integral part of the team that, every day, makes sure of it. Since 2004, our colleague Taina has been part of the Monsanto Caribe team. She has held different positions in different fields, including reception, quality management (QMS), and environment, health and safety (EHS). She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Interamerican University Ponce Campus. Currently, she works as an EHS specialist.

“Since 2012, I decided to work in the ESH department, where I am responsible for ensuring compliance with all of our occupational safety programs, to ensure that all of our employees have a safe workplace and we prevent injuries. I think this is the most satisfying part of my work; knowing that, at the end of the day, all of our employees can go to their homes in the same way they came to work.”

What’s it like working at Monsanto?

“I feel proud to work for this company. Monsanto not only cares about the health and well-being of all our employees, but also gives us the necessary tools to develop professionally and be successful in everything we do in our work environment.”

Why do you think more girls and young women should follow a career in your field?

“I urge that, every day, more women choose this and any other career that they’re passionate about, regardless if there is a tendency to be led by men, as it often happens. ‘Climbing the top can be hard for anyone, however, women face specific obstacles that turn the path to leadership into a real challenge.’ Even so, we have to continue to demonstrate that we can be excellent leaders.”

Taina describes herself as “optimistic, dynamic, responsible, focused on details and very focused on results. I love to dance, I enjoy spending time with my family, and I am very homey.”

Congratulations, Taina, on #InternationalWomensWeek.
