In celebration of International Women’s Week, we’re highlighting the work of our entrepreneurial colleagues, both in Puerto Rico and around the world. Meet our colleague Veronica M.

Verónica is a production manager in the manufacturing area at our Juana Díaz site. Since 1997, she has been part of our team at Monsanto. Her background in agronomy, soil, horticulture, and biotechnology, germinated from her and her family’s passion for agriculture.

“I decided to study agriculture in my fourth year of high school in Jayuya. In our patio there was a small tomato plot from a farmer friend of the family. I marveled, I was very impressed, to see how from such a small flower a fruit like tomato would form. That impressed me a lot!”

What’s it like working at Monsanto?

“I feel that, working at Monsanto, I am helping many farmers overcome the obstacles they face to produce their crops, and at the same time, protecting the environment, including wildlife. Also, I’m contributing to the production of healthier foods. I feel comfortable working at Monsanto!”

Why do you think more girls and young women should follow a career in your field?

“Women should be on a par in terms of proportion in all careers. By nature, we contribute in creating an environment of greater harmony, understanding and closeness in the work areas, at all levels.”

Veronica describes herself as “cheerful, humble, honest, responsible, hard-working, sensitive, empathetic, a nature and cat lover”. Congratulations, Veronica, on #InternationalWomensWeek.
